Six vintage gold metal teaspoons with Art Nouveau hallmarks of the number 18 in a square in the original inscribed box, approximately early 20th century. The spoons have some gilding coming off, more so on one of the spoons (photo 9). One of the spoons is more rounded inwards than the others (photo 10).There are also superficial scratches. However, these spoons are very nice and have an original pattern. The box is shabby, has stains, is decorated with a gold vignette and has a lock with an inscription Bte. S.G.D.G., the inside is covered with silky burgundy fabric. The inscription "Breveté SGDG - France" means that your vintage teaspoons are a patented design from France, manufactured before 1968, and that the French government has not guaranteed its functionality."France and Belgium retained the system of simple registration of patents. Patents registered in this way were considered to be exempt from any liability from the government's point of view.In France, the law of 1844 states that patents are granted "without prior examination, at the risk of the applicant and without guarantee of the functionality, novelty and merits of the invention, as well as of the accuracy or veracity of the description."
