Made for eight-string experts, the Ibanez Axe Design Lab RGDMS8 gets you a multi-scale monster with tight bass strings and supple treble strings - courtesy of a scale length that graduates from a classic 25.5 inches to 27.2 inches. This not only keeps the low B and F# strings nicely in pitch, but makes sure that your low notes sound pointed at all times, all while the 5-piece maple/walnut neck and its broad-but-flat, Wizard III-8 carve take care of masses of stability. The RGDMS8: Sounds for Days Twenty-four fanned jumbo frets, a 15.75" radius and a deluxe Macassar ebony fretboard ensure this 8-string axe is a treat to play. The soft contours of the RGD-style nyatoh body help pave the way to the highest frets, where playing leads, melodies and even rhythm parts is no problem. Plugged in, the warm, slightly punchy acoustic foundation sound is picked up and amplified by two Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers for an extensive palette of active and passive sounds that can be explored with a push/pull Fishman Fluence Voicing switch, a coil-tap switch and, of course, a 3-way pickup switch.
