A very attractive vintage hand-woven sumak kilim (circa 1930), woven by the nomadic tribes who roamed this region of northern turkey, iran and the caucasus, raising their sheep, harvesting wool, dyeing it, spinning it and weaving it into these beautiful carpets.Like many delicate and woven products of great age, this article has accumulated some scars...A small hole, shown in a photo, but hard to see unless i've passed something through, which I wouldn't like to do, and some damage to the edge and the loss of a few tassels. It really sounds much worse than it is and the overall impact of this vibrant piece is not compromised, however, the price is discounted to reflect these things.
