For Thai Army, the most important course for being a leader of a small military unit that final year of Royal Military Academy students and personnel who love challenges want to go through to prove their abilities, both to get the “Tiger with a Sword” insignia to wear on their chests, is the Ranger course. This course is considered the most difficult and grueling in the Army, and is similar to the US Army Ranger course, which is taught at the Infantry School at Fort Benning. The training period is approximately 10 weeks or 2 and a half months. The training was trained by the Special Warfare Center, began training from March 11 to May 19. It is divided into 5 training sessions, which each training center will have a different sequence, but the overall details must be as follows: Location section - will train in principles of reconnaissance, personnel fighting during day and night, communications, first aid, survival in the jungle, explosive detonation, weapons study, maps and compasses, adjustment of supporting weapons, use of ropes, air movement tactics, air cargo receiving, and identifying targets for attack aircraft. Urban and Construction Combat Section - Training in reconnaissance, search and seizure, setting up checkpoints and intercepting areas, and raiding and clearing construction areas. Plains Forest Section - Practice ambush, surprise attack, stronghold attack, prisoner of war problem and escape. Forest Mountain Division - Training in clearing, tracking, ambushing, encirclement and search, and survival in the forest. Lowland Marine Section-Basic Sea swimming training, coastal patrol, use and maintenance of rubber boats, tactical operations, abandonment of large ships, survival at sea, intelligence patrols, infiltration of mangrove beaches, and attacking strongholds. After completing the course, 172 students were left with the “Tiger with Sword” badge on their chest, indicating that they were capable, had leadership qualities, and were resilient.
