The Friedman IR-D dual-channel tube preamp instantly adds that legendary British amp sound to any compact rig and comes loaded with two boostable channels based on Dirty Shirley/Twin Sister designs, as well as thirteen of Dave Friedman's favourite studio-grade IRs. The JTM-45-style circuit ensures rich harmonies and a fully responsive touch, while the pair of 12AX7 high-voltage preamp valves produce the warmth and complexity of real British valve amps. What truly sets this Friedman preamp apart, however, is its ability to deliver authentic valve-style sound without any simulation-based compromises. The IR-D: Sublime Sound Some guitar pedals use valves to warm up their digital sound, but not the IR-D. This genuine two-channel valve preamp features an adjustable boost circuit per channel and can be plugged directly into the mixer or set up in combination with a pair of headphones for more private playing sessions. As said, you're set up with thirteen impulse responses for studio-quality miked sounds, plus you have the option to load custom IRs via the included editor software. Unrivalled Flexibility and Control On top of all of the above, the Friedman IR-D comes fitted with a mini-switch per channel for toggling between three IRs that can be sent directly to the PA system or your DAW. You can also turn off the built-in IRs completely and run a different IR loader or route your signal to the power amp section via the send port. This ultra-flexible bit of kit offers seriously deep control over your sound via a host of controls, settings and functions, including potent tone controls and a built-in effects loop. Still, it's been kept conveniently compact and will support everything from studio recording sessions, gigs and practise.
