Based on the eighties legend that was the Roland SDE-3000 digital delay rack unit, the Boss SDE-3000D is just as powerful and just as far-reaching a dual delay, but comes neatly wrapped in a stompbox housing loaded with modern perks. This mega-complete effect pedal features two entirely independent delays, flexible internal routing and an extensive line-up of inputs and outputs that support both mono and stereo setups. This tank of a delay pedal also supplies no-less-than 100 memory slots so you're free to hammer custom delays into shape and save them for later and, using a compatible 3.5mm stereo mini-jack MIDI cable, this old-school effect can even be integrated into a live or studio rig with minimal effort. The Boss SDE-3000: The Rebirth of a Legend Whether you knew it or not, the Roland SDE-3000 was an essential ingredient in the sound of both the 1980s and 1990s, and it's exactly this magic that the Boss SDE-3000D encapsulates. Here, you're granted access to an unbelievable dynamic range and rich and delicious modulation as well as warm and enveloping delay, and it's that warmth that Boss excels at here - fully departing from the cold and clinical sound that comes with a lot of digital delays. Another nice detail is the retro-style control panel which is directly taken from the original vintage hardware, so you're getting banks of push buttons lined up around a twelve-digit LED display that looks like it's been stripped from the dashboard of a time-travelling DeLorean - which makes sense, because you're essentially looking at a time-travelling delay box. Two for One! The first-gen Roland SDE-3000 was mono, but the next-gen Boss SDE-3000D comes with two discrete delays, each with their own independent set of parameters plus mono or stereo modulation liberally piled on top. This opens up parallel or series switching to create extra depth or complex, chopping rhythms, while the stereo inputs and outputs support every possible routing configuration, including a classic wet-dry setup. In terms of hands-free control, three footswitches are provided for scrolling through presets, tapping in the tempo and triggering the delay hold, the momentary delay and plenty more. Next to that, an extra four footswitches and two expression pedals or a GA-FC or GA-FC EX foot controller can be hooked up at will to expand the layout.
